Keasbey, NJ (Sept. 27, 2018)
– ShopRite is partnering again this year with Pantene® for its Care Beyond Hair Tour, exclusively at ShopRite, to donate hair and raise money for Locks of Love, which provides custom-made hairpieces for children suffering from long-term hair loss. From Sept. 30 through Nov. 18, the Care Beyond Hair Tour will make stops at 40 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, offering people the chance to donate their locks to help children in need.
On Sunday, Sept. 30,
Campaign Ambassador Tiki Barber will kick off the Pantene Care Beyond Hair Tour at the ShopRite of Middletown, Rt. 35 and Harmony Road, Middletown, NJ
. The former NFL running back and CBS sports commentator, who has talked in the past about his mother’s battle with breast cancer, will visit the store from noon to 1 p.m
. and meet with people who take a break from shopping to get a haircut. Hair donations will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
at a pop-up styling station located outside the store.
“The ShopRite of Middletown is excited to host the kick-off event for the Pantene Care Beyond Hair Tour to benefit Locks of Love,” said Rick Saker, Senior Vice President of Saker ShopRites. “Our family-owned business and dedicated associates are committed to the communities where our ShopRite stores operate. We are proud to participate in a great event like this to benefit Locks of Love and the wonderful work they do in making lives better for children.”
More pop-up styling stations will appear at ShopRite stores over the next two months as part of the Care Beyond Hair Tour. Each in-store station will feature an on-site person to cut hair– Locks of Love typically needs about 10 inches of hair for each cut– and donated hair will be used to create real-hair wigs and pieces for children who have lost hair due to treatments for cancer and other medical-related conditions. For every hair donation, Pantene will also pledge an additional $50 to Locks of Love, up to $11,000.
“We are honored to partner for the second year in a row with Pantene for the Care Beyond Hair Tour,” said Cathy Magistrelli, Vice President of Health and Beauty Care for ShopRite. “With support from our generous customers and great team of associates, we will help Pantene and Locks of Love help children in need. Locks of Love restores some normalcy to children’s lives and gives them confidence to help fight tough medical-related conditions.”
Locks of Love provides free hair prostheses to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss and whose families can’t afford to purchase a wig or hairpiece. Nearly two million children in the U.S. suffer from alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss. Radiation treatment for brain tumors can also cause permanent hair loss in children. The custom-made, real hairpieces provided by Locks of Love can be worn even while swimming or in the shower.
“We’re so thankful to ShopRite for its support of Pantene’s Care Beyond Hair Tour,” said Robert Stetts, marketing manager with P&G. “Locks of Love and our generous donors continue to make the creation of these custom hairpieces possible, and we look forward to another successful campaign this year for a great cause.”
