ShopRite Kicks Off Summer Snacking Campaign

Customers can explore delicious and nutritious snack solutions with the help of ShopRite Dietitians

Love to snack? You’re not alone. Recent consumer research says American consumers are snacking in record numbers, with some Americans reporting that they snack up to six times daily. So how can consumers make sure their snacks are both delicious and nutritious? ShopRite has the answer with its newest health and wellness-focused campaign, “Real. Smart. Snacks.”
 
“We launched this campaign in response to what our customers have been telling us about their snacking habits,” says Natalie Menza-Crowe, MS, RD, Director of Health and Wellness at ShopRite. “Our shoppers are increasingly looking for snack ideas that are affordable, easy to make and nutritious, but of course, also satisfy their between-meal cravings.”
 
As part of the “Real. Smart. Snacks.” campaign, shoppers will have the opportunity to sample and discover great snacking ideas while shopping in the store. Shoppers can also receive free recipes and advice from the supermarket’s team of dietitians, who will provide personalized suggestions on great snacking ideas.

“Snacking is an easy and healthy way to add in nutrition throughout the day and prevent overeating at mealtime," says Menza-Crowe. “But the key to healthy snacking is to make sure that your snacks contain a good mix of protein, whole grains, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and of course, are consumed in moderation.”
 
“Real. Smart. Snacks.” which runs through September 1, is the latest entry in ShopRite’s Well Everyday messaging program, an initiative launched last year as part of ShopRite’s commitment to providing health and wellness inspiration, education and free services to customers.
 
As part of the eight-week campaign, shoppers can pick up a free “Real. Smart. Snacks.” recipe brochure at the office of their local in-store ShopRite dietitian while supplies last (also available as a download on www.shoprite.com) featuring recipes such as Hot Spinach and Kale Dip with Fresh Veggies, Watermelon Gazpacho Salad, and Cucumber & Cherry Tomato Kabobs with White Bean Hummus.
 
In addition to in-store events, the “Real. Smart. Snacks.” campaign features colorful signage throughout the store, directing consumers to creative food pairing ideas in the produce, seafood and center-store aisles. Campaign messaging will also appear on the supermarket’s website, social media channels, and in weekly circulars.
