Select ShopRite Pharmacies Distributing COVID-19 Vaccines to Adolescents and Teens
May 21, 2021
ShopRite announced today that select pharmacies are now administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children and teenagers ages 12 through 15, following the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) emergency use authorization. Parental or legal consent is required for children and teens looking to receive the vaccine.
“We are proud to be part of vaccination efforts that continue to help our communities and families fight this virus,” said Jeffrey Mondelli, RPh, Vice President of Pharmacy, Health & Beauty at Wakefern Food Corp., the logistics, distribution and merchandising arm for ShopRite stores. “ShopRite Pharmacy has delivered more than 200,000 doses of life-saving COVID-19 vaccine so far this year, and we are excited for this next step in expanding vaccine access to more young people.”
Individuals younger than 18 are eligible to receive only the Pfizer vaccine, where available. To schedule an appointment for an adolescent or teen younger than 18, parents and guardians should visit ShopRite’s COVID-19 vaccine scheduler, accessible both online at vaccines.ShopRite.com and via the ShopRite Pharmacy app (available on the Apple and Google Play stores). Appointments open up based on the vaccine supply our locations receive.
