Hosted by the New Jersey Firefighter Mutual Benevolent Association and the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation, the Cooked and Uncorked event "puts fire to good use" by pitting local New Jersey fire departments against each other in a cook-off.
Each year, ShopRite provides the 14 participating fire departments (including Long Branch!) with ShopRite gift cards to purchase the ingredients for their cook-off entries. This year's celebrity judges included ShopRite Corporate Chef Lynn Logg, restaurateur and food writer John Foy and columnist Peter Genovese.
Cooked and Uncorked attendees enjoyed tasting and sampling from some of New Jersey's finest restaurants, including Nanina's in the Park, Oceana Grill, Calabria's and The Manor, as well as the cook-off entries submitted by New Jersey's bravest! This year's winner was the Bayonne fire department.
Proceeds from the event, which requires tickets to attend, will benefit the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation and Arthur C. Luf Children's Burn Camp.http//www.cookedanduncorked.com.
