Hoboken, NJ (February 1, 2013) – The ShopRite of Hoboken has announced that it will reopen its doors to serve the community once again on Saturday, February 9, 2013 with a grand reopening and ribbon cutting celebration at 9:00 AM. Local politicians, dignitaries and community leaders are scheduled to attend.
The grand reopening celebration will include food samplings and tastings from ShopRite’s newly expanded prepared foods and fresh bake departments, as well as some of Hoboken’s most renowned restaurants. ShopRite’s adjoining liquor store, which will now feature nearly 200 unique and exquisite craft beers, will have beer and wine samplings to compliment the local fare.
To commemorate the return of Hoboken’s neighborhood ShopRite, the Inserra family, which owns and operates the ShopRite of Hoboken, as well as 20 additional stores in New York and New Jersey, will present a donation of $25,000 to representatives from the Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund to aid its neighbors in need.
“My family and I are extremely excited to reopen our doors to serve our Hoboken neighbors once more,” said Larry Inserra, president of Inserra Supermarkets. “We have enjoyed being a part of this tight knit community for more than ten years; we are happy to be ‘home’ again and look forward to helping in the rebuilding of this resilient city.”
Having sustained considerable damage from the impact of Superstorm Sandy this past October, Inserra Supermarkets conducted a complete renovation of the store, taking the opportunity to improve upon the neighborhood’s favorite supermarket.
An integral part of the Hoboken community, the new and improved ShopRite will offer several new features to its neighbors and customers including expanded organic, natural and gluten-free products integrated into all departments of the store; an extended prepared foods department with hot and cold selections that busy customers can take home and call their own; quick and easy lunch or dinner options such as fresh wraps and sandwiches made to order, a sushi bar, fresh-baked pizza, and Asian specialties; a full service gourmet coffee shop featuring blended coffee beverages, fruit smoothies and espresso drinks, in addition to rich, freshly brewed coffees and teas. Additional new features include a gourmet, homemade cupcake bar, and fresh frozen yogurt in a variety of flavors, available all year long.
In addition to these new offerings, the ShopRite of Hoboken will continue to provide customers with the products and services that ShopRite customers have come to expect including: a fresh bake shop that can create custom wedding cakes to rival anything seen on a cooking show; a full-service butcher; fresh seafood delivered daily; a full-service floral department, as well as a broad selection of international foods, with a diverse selection of groceries from around the world. The ShopRite of Hoboken Liquor store will also reopen with its vast and signature selection of fine wines and spirits.
The store’s reopening will also reintroduce ShopRite From Home® to the Hoboken community, a service that allows customers to place online orders from their home computer or mobile device and have store associates shop for them, so they can come by at their convenience and pick up their packaged groceries or have them delivered to their home.
As part of its commitment to the people of Hoboken and its dedication to the health and wellness of customers and associates, ShopRite will introduce the free services of an in-store dietitian later this year.
After the storm, the entire store was stripped down to its frame, allowing for an overhaul of its flooring, fixtures and lighting infrastructure. Taking advantage of the opportunity to improve upon the previous store’s design, the store has been rebuilt using some of the industry’s “greenest” technologies to help reduce waste, protect the environment and create a more energy-efficient shopping experience, including glass doors on all dairy and freezer cases, LED and T-8 lighting, environmentally-friendly refrigerant systems and a store-wide energy reduction system. Energy usage is expected to be reduced by as much as fifty percent for store lighting with the implementation of this state-of-the-art equipment.
The ShopRite of Hoboken will also continue its ShopRite Culinary Workshop classes. These weekly, hands-on cooking classes are taught by area professional chefs. For a minimal fee, guests attend a 2-hour class and fully participate in the preparation of an entire meal. At the close of each class, participants can dine with the chef. A full schedule of classes and menus can be found at ShopRite.com.
