Soccer Star Christie Pearce Rampone Helps ShopRite Deliver Turkeys and Fresh Produce to Fulfill Food Bank

Neptune, NJ (Nov. 9, 2017) -- Professional soccer player, World Cup Champion and Olympic gold medalist Christie Pearce Rampone joined ShopRite today to deliver 2,000 turkeys and 2,000 pounds of fresh produce to Fulfill (formerly the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties) in Neptune, NJ.
Today’s donation is the final stop on the delivery route for ShopRite’s annual holiday donation to local food banks. ShopRite delivered 60 tons of turkey this year to Feeding America food banks in the six states where ShopRite stores operate.

“Fighting hunger in the community is at the heart of ShopRite’s charitable giving, and ShopRite’s annual donation of 60 tons of turkeys to food banks means that thousands of families in need will have the opportunity to sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner,” said Christine Magyarits, ShopRite’s Community Relations Manager.

A resident of Monmouth County and graduate of Monmouth University, Pearce Rampone is the longest serving captain of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team (2008-2015), and the only member of the team to be part of two Women’s World Cup Championship teams (in 1999 and 2015). She’s also a four-time Olympian and gold medalist. She was joined Thursday by dietitians from the food bank and ShopRite, pictured below, who shared tips on preparing healthy holiday meals.

“I’m really excited to be here today to help ShopRite provide good, nutritious food to our neighbors in need, and I’m thankful for partners like Fulfill food bank and the great work they do to help feed people and fight food insecurity in Ocean and Monmouth counties,” said Pearce Rampone.
