ShopRite Promotes "Healthy Holidays" With Free Events and Giveaways

Customers can receive free samples, advice and holiday recipes from the supermarket’s team of in-store dietitians during November and December

ShopRite announced today that it has launched “Healthy Holidays,” a new campaign that allows shoppers to sample “better-for-you” holiday foods, receive free nutritional advice from in-store health and wellness experts, and download a recipe booklet that features lightened-up versions of traditional holiday favorites.
“We know it’s hard to resist temptation over the holidays,” says Natalie Menza-Crowe, RD, MS, director of Health and Wellness at ShopRite. “That’s why we’re so excited let people know about our ‘Healthy Holidays’ campaign, which is all about helping our customers enjoy the holidays and create festive meals and desserts that are as delicious as they are nutritious.”

 As part of the campaign, shoppers can pick up a free “Healthy Holidays” recipe brochure at the office of their local in-store ShopRite dietitian (or they can download the guide on The pamphlet contains ideas for holiday-inspired salads, appetizers, meals and desserts, as well as “swap” ideas to create “better for you” versions of baking goods, pasta dishes and entrees.

“Healthy Holidays,” which runs through the end of December, is the latest entry into ShopRite’s Well Everyday messaging program. For a healthy twist on a holiday favorite, try this no-bake creamy pumpkin pie recipe, as suggested by ShopRite’s Registered Dietitian Team.

No-Bake Creamy Pumpkin Pie
Prep time: 15 minutes
Makes 12 servings
2 hours chill time extra
8 sheets chocolate graham crackers (32 crackers)
2 tbsp. turbinado (raw) sugar
3 tbsp. reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp. skim milk
Pumpkin filling:
8 oz. reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
1 cup canned pumpkin purée
3 tbsp. sorghum syrup
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
Whipped cream (optional)
1. For the crust: Coarsely break graham crackers, and place in a food processor. Add sugar; process until fine crumbs form. Add cream cheese and milk; process just until combined. Press dough evenly into bottom and lower sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Place in freezer at least 1 hour.
2. For the filling: In a large mixing bowl and using an electric mixer at medium speed, beat together cream cheese, pumpkin, sorghum syrup, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon until well combined. Spread evenly in pie shell. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Garnish with whipped cream
(if desired).
Per serving: 110 calories, 4g fat, 1.5g saturated fat, 10mg cholesterol,
160mg sodium, 17g carbohydrate, 1g fiber, 3g protein
