Keasbey, NJ -- (Feb. 9, 2016)
-- In honor of American Heart Month, ShopRite is providing free cholesterol screenings throughout February. Screenings are free and everyone is welcome. No appointments or fasting is needed.
“Heart disease is the nation’s number one cause of death. Getting screened and knowing your cholesterol numbers can save your life, which is why we’re proud to be offering this important preventative care service to our customers,” says Natalie Menza, Manager of Health and Wellness at ShopRite, the largest supermarket cooperative in the country with more than 250 stores in the northeast. “Health and wellness initiatives remain a top priority for ShopRite, and our goal is to continue to provide our customers with the best available tools and information when it comes to their health.”
ol screenings are part of ShopRite’s ongoing commitment to providing a full suite of preventative care services to its customers, which include free flu shots, blood pressure monitoring stations, and (in most locations), dedicated in-store registered dietitians who are on hand to assist customers with all their health and wellness needs via personal consultations, store tours, educational services and group classes.
ShopRite began offering free cholesterol screenings in 2010, and screens approximately 18,000 people per year.
Additionally, ShopRite customers can also find a variety of healthy solutions in nearly every aisle, including fresh organic foods, vitamins and supplements. Specially designated areas with healthy or specifically curated products are located throughout the store. Prominent shelf tags highlighting specific attributes such “low sodium,” “heart healthy,” “lactose-free” or “gluten-free,” are also located prominently throughout the aisles.
