WHAT: The ShopRite of Warminster will present a check in the amount of $20,000 to Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization, on Thursday, April 24th, at 11 AM. This outstanding donation was raised as a part of the annual Check-Out Hunger fundraising campaign.

Each year, ShopRite stores compete to raise funds for this worthy program and the donations benefit local food banks in ShopRite communities across CT, NY, NJ, PA, DE and Maryland. In a tireless effort to help feed the hungry, ShopRite associates in six states raised a record-breaking total of $950,000 in the 2013 annual contest, $19,500 of which was raised by ShopRite of Warminster alone. The ShopRite of Warminster is owned and operated by the Cowhey family.

“We are so proud of our associates for stepping up their efforts this year in the fight against hunger,” said Joe Cowhey, president of the ShopRite of Warminster. “We are also grateful to our generous customers not only for helping us to raise these much-needed funds but also for their commitment to raising awareness of this very serious issue in our community.”

One hundred percent of all funds raised through the Check-Out Hunger program are donated to local food banks. From October through December of last year, ShopRite shoppers added a $1, $3, or $5 donation to their bill at the checkout aisle, helping to raise funds for food banks in ShopRite’s trading areas across six states. Year after year, ShopRite associates step up their efforts at checkout lanes to ensure that Check-Out Hunger contributions continue to be a major source of funding for local food banks.
