Ribbon cutting ceremony with Yonkers Mayor Spano scheduled for Saturday, October 5th at 10 AM

ShopRite announced today that its Greenway Plaza location in Yonkers will reopen this Sunday, September 29th at 7 AM after undergoing a complete store renovation. The 49,000 square foot store closed for approximately three months to undergo a complete transformation, expanding the store by 7,000 square feet to include a wide array of new offerings and unique services. A ribbon cutting ceremony and grand re-opening celebration with Mayor Mike Spano is scheduled for next Saturday, October 5th at 10 AM.
The new ShopRite of Greenway Plaza features expanded  produce, seafood, deli and cheese departments, which will also offer store-made specialties. In response to the community’s needs, the bigger, better and fresher ShopRite will also offer expanded natural, organic and gluten-free products in every department of the store, as well as a wider selection of prepared foods and to-go items.
New to the ShopRite of Greenway Plaza will be the free services of an on-site Registered Dietitian. The dietitian is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, as well as English and can help customers shop for healthy choices or specialized dietary needs. The store will also offer ShopRite from Home delivery service, where customers can place an order online and have their groceries delivered right to their home.
The new store is outfitted with the latest energy-saving and sustainable technologies in refrigeration and lighting, including LED and T-8 lighting and environmentally friendly refrigerant systems.
“We are very grateful to our loyal customers for their patience and support as we worked to bring this bigger, better and fresher supermarket to the community in just three short months,” said Tom Urtz, vice president of Human Resources and Community Affairs for ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.  “We look forward to sharing the new products and services the ShopRite of Greenway Plaza has to offer and to continuing our thirty year partnership with the city of Yonkers. It’s a great place to live, work and shop.”
Mayor Mike Spano stated, “I am proud to celebrate the re-opening of this renovated, expanded and ‘green’ store. The ShopRite of Greenway Plaza is a mainstay of the Downtown community and a job creator in the City of Yonkers – the store employs 300 associates, including 75 new hires. I look forward to continuing to partner with ShopRite as they continue to grow and create job in Yonkers.”
