Special Flight Gets a Lift from ShopRite

April 05, 2016
ShopRite donates $100,000 to the Hudson Valley Honor Flight organization, which takes veterans to the nation’s capital to visit war memorials and monuments.

The latest Hudson Valley Honor Flight took off last week from Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, NY, bound for Washington, DC.  More than 80 veterans from World War II and the Korean War were onboard for the special journey.

The Honor Flight takes to the air several times a year, offering the free, special trip to veterans from New York counties such as Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Sullivan and Putnam; Pike County, Pa.; Bergen County, NJ, and Fairfield, CT.  Flights alternate between Stewart Airport and Westchester County Airport in White Plains, NY.

Priority is given to World War II veterans and terminally ill veterans from other wars, and a reception is held for the soldiers when they arrive in DC.  The Hudson Valley Honor Flight is part of the National Honor Flight Network.

ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. is proud to help sponsor the Hudson Valley Honor Flight program --our way of saying thanks to the brave veterans who served our country!
