June 12, 2017
ANAHEIM, CA - ShopRite Supermarkets announced that four of its Registered Dietitians were recognized for their outstanding work in serving customers, associates and members of the community during the fifth annual Progressive Grocer Retail Dietitian Symposium, held June 3-5 in Anaheim, CA.

Ashley Cully, RD, a registered dietitian with the ShopRite of Marlton and the Shoprite of Evesham Road, both in New Jersey, received a Retail Dietitian Outreach Innovation Award at the ceremony, which took place on June 4. The award recognized her efforts in coordinating a Gluten-Free Festival, which takes place each year in October at the ShopRite of Marlton. Her most recent event had 60 participating companies and was timed to coordinate with Celiac Awareness Month.

According to the organization, judges for the contest, now in its fifth year, were comprised of retail executives, registered dietitians and Progressive Grocer editors who rated submissions on their ability to increase shopper engagement, build awareness of the retail banner as a partner in wellness, and provide demonstrable services to store customers and associates.

At the awards ceremony, Ms. Culley spoke about the event, and thanked store owner, Ravitz Family Markets, for providing her with the tools and encouragement to make the annual event a success.

Additionally, three ShopRite dietitians were among the five finalists nominated for 2017 RDBA Retail Dietitian of the Year award, which recognizes a retail dietitian who demonstrates leadership, innovation and business savvy to positively impact consumer behavior through the retail sector. Maryrose Agel, RDN, retail dietitian at ShopRite of Spotswood, NJ, Monica Hansen, RD, retail dietitian at ShopRite of Greater Morristown in Cedar Knolls, NJ, and Jenna Warner, RD, manager of corporate retail health & wellness for Inserra Supermarkets Inc., which operates approximately 22 ShopRite stores across New York and New Jersey, were all acknowledged for their work.
