New York Jets Join ShopRite at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey

November 14, 2016

New York Jets Alumni and New York Jets Flight Crew Cheerleaders visited the Community Foodbank of New Jersey Monday to help unload a ShopRite delivery of turkeys, potatoes and carrots.  ShopRite delivered 2,300 frozen turkeys, 2,000 pounds of carrots and another 2,000 pounds of potatoes to the food bank. ShopRite's annual holiday donation is a longstanding tradition that helps families sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Volunteers from ShopRite, the food bank and the New York Jets helped unload the donations for distribution to food pantries, soup kitchens and other organizations that help get the food to people in need.

Fighting hunger in the community is at the very heart of ShopRite’s charitable giving. Through its year-round hunger-fighting initiative, ShopRite Partners In Caring, ShopRite has donated more than a million pounds of holiday turkey over the last 17 years to food banks in the region. This year’s donation of 60 tons of turkeys has been loaded onto ShopRite trucks and is on its way to local food banks in six states

About Jets Foundation
The New York Jets take great pride in a long-standing, year-round commitment to our community. Programs funded by the New York Jets Foundation look to positively influence the lives of young men and women in the tri-state area by promoting fitness, supporting youth football and preventing bullying, particularly in disadvantaged communities. From launching football teams at urban high schools to urging students to be active for at least 60 minutes every day to fostering positive school environments, the New York Jets invest in programs that make a difference in the lives of others. In addition to our focus on youth development, the Jets support the efforts of the Alliance for Lupus Research and numerous established charitable organizations and causes sponsored by the NFL.
